Nomihodai!!

So, my favorite word in Japanese is nomihodai.

It means all you can drink.

Basically, its awesome.

Nomihodais come in various forms. So far I have been to a more restaurant nomihodai where you sit on tatami mats and they bring you food and as much as you can drink for about two hours. I also just went to a karaoke nomihodai. They give you one medium sized cup for everyone in your party and you go to the bar and they fill up your glass with whatever you ask for. Usually its some sort of sake and carbonated juice stuff. Both have provided me with endless fun.

Since I am a n00b when it comes to alcohol, I usually let people order the drinks for me. The drinks the Japanese guys in our group ordered for me were very very good. I need to get the names of them. They were all incredibly sweet and tasted like juice! You couldn't even taste the alcohol! Mmm!

Now, the drinking age in Japan is 20. Thank god they don't card foreingers. On second thought, I have not seem them card Japanese either. Hm.

Another interesting aspect is that you can buy alcohol in cans at the supermarket. Maybe you can in the States too but I have not seen it... The only way you can tell it is alcohol is by the little お酒 character on the can.

My host mother is quite leninet..... She has boughten me wine and alcohol... and we when went to do karaoke, she ordered me an alcoholic drink. Bwahaha she is awesome.

Now the dangerous thing about goint out and drinking at night is the transporation system. I have to take the trian and the bus to get home. The last train is around midnight which isn't that bad... but the last bus is at 10:49pm which means that clubbing is out of the picture unless I get a cab. I don't know how much taxis cost but I am sure they are expensive.

So far, I have made all of my trains and busses.... Last night I made it on the last bus... I was soooo relieved. If I miss the bus, I would have to walk over an hour back home. However, when I am drunk, I love to run. I have noooo idea why, but I get sudden urges to just run. It came in handy when I ran up four flights of stairs to get to my bus. hah hah haaaaah.

Hooray for Japan!!!
